Graphic Interaction & Motion Design

ART 259 Interaction Design (72672) + ART 265 Motion Design (CRN: 75669)
Fall 2025 | Tuesday/Thursday, 9:30–11:50 AM
Location: Digital Media and Graphic Design Studio, Room 7138

In Fall 2025, we are combining ART 259 Interaction Design with ART 265 Motion Design to create a forward-thinking course: Interaction & Motion Design. This class is designed for students who want to master the intersection of graphic design, motion graphics, UX/UI design, and interactive media—skills that are in high demand across creative industries. Students can take either CRNs to meet their class credit needs.

You will learn how to design engaging digital experiences, create a channel, make animated content for branding and marketing, and develop interactive prototypes for web and app environments. This course focuses on practical design applications, preparing you for careers in digital graphic design, user experience, motion graphics, and creative technology.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Design motion graphics for branding, marketing, and digital platforms
  • Develop interactive prototypes for web and mobile apps using UX/UI principles
  • Create graphic and dynamic content for social media and digital campaigns
  • Build a portfolio showcasing interactive and motion-based design solutions
  • Understand and manage website hosting on different platforms, include Youtube channels.
  • Gain fluency in industry-standard tools such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Swipepages.

For Students Seeking a Video Art Experience:

If your interest leans more toward experimental video art, animation, and digital storytelling—or if you prefer a Monday/Wednesday morning schedule—we recommend enrolling in the ART 253 + ART 265 combination. That course emphasizes a more artistic approach to time-based media, ideal for students from studio art backgrounds looking to expand their creative expression through video and motion.

Make It a Full Day of Immersive Digital Practice

Students committed to advancing their design careers should consider extending their Tuesday/Thursday schedule by enrolling in:

  • ART 266: Graphic Design (CRN: 75165, T, Th)
  • ART 267: Graphic Design Portfolio Development (CRN: 75047. T. Th)

These afternoon classes run from 12:00 PM to 2:20 PM in the same studio (Room 7138), offering an additional two hours of focused, hands-on practice. This immersive experience accelerates your portfolio development, simulating real-world design workflows and enhancing your readiness for careers in graphic design, UX/UI, motion graphics, and digital media.

With this schedule, you’ll gain comprehensive exposure to modern design practices—maximizing your time while building a professional, industry-standard portfolio.

We designed these immersive, project-based classes options to give students the time and space needed to develop real-world skills and produce higher-quality work. In today’s competitive industry, having a strong portfolio filled with practical experience is more valuable than ever. Employers are looking for designers who can handle complex projects, think independently, and adapt to a variety of creative challenges. By extending class offering and focusing on intensive, hands-on learning, students gain more than just technical skills—they build confidence, problem-solving abilities, and a professional mindset.

Our approach goes beyond traditional graphic design. We prepare students to be versatile, AI future-ready creatives who can deliver complete design solutions, from branding and motion graphics to web, social media, and UX design. With a focus on real-world challenges and personalized portfolio development, students leave the program equipped to meet industry demands—whether they join a company, work freelance, or operate as a one-person design studio for own business or social channel. This structure ensures that every hour spent in class directly contributes to building a career-ready portfolio and developing the experience employers are looking for.
